The people of Ukraine, and their President Volodymyr Zelensky, have underscored, in no uncertain terms, the fact that “Freedom Isn’t Free”. The courage, steadfastness, and strength that they have exhibited gives us an example of what a people who have lived under oppression are willing to do, and sometimes must do, to preserve their Freedom.

They have also presented us with a wake-up call concerning our responsibilities. In our defense of Freedom we must act responsibly, but we also must be aware of the result of actions we may fail to take.

We have the responsibility for the education of our people concerning the importance of the fight for Freedom. People cannot love this country if they don’t understand who we are, how we got here, and what we strive to be. We are the beneficiaries of the remarkable creation of a new country that has led the world to the greatest Freedom and Prosperity in history. Is the task over? Of course not! But if we don’t preserve the spirit of America we risk losing all the progress that has been made.

So it is, on this Fourth of July as we trust in God, we pledge to support those who stand for and teach others about the importance of freedom. And we pray for the people of Ukraine.
