America offers the blessings of liberty to each and every individual. We know there are barriers that hinder the full realization of that promise. There is division, polarization, extremism, and other things that are preventing us from realizing America’s full potential.

As a nation we acknowledge the worth of every individual. The majority of Americans, regardless of political persuasion, are individuals who love this country. As we celebrate our blessings and opportunities we must also accept the responsibility that is required of each of us to preserve freedom and to extend the blessings of liberty to all.

We must begin a new conversation dedicated to building a more perfect union. That conversation will not come from Washington DC. It must be personal, person to person, in the spirit of understanding. To be successful it will come from the realization that we are all Americans searching to fulfill the promise of America. It will come from each of us as we forge new ways to address the problems of our time.

So it is, on this Fourth of July, we stand and affirm, with courage and trust in God, the ideal expressed

“One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
