Grateful Greetings, July 4, 1995

On this Independence Day, we consider Interdependence and the necessity for TEAMWORK. Freedom is not for the purpose of doing what we like but it is for the purpose of doing what we ought. It allows the building of organizations that can use and accommodate our many individual differences, such as intelligence, skills, knowledge, energy, creativity, aptitudes, and enthusiasm. This is a nation where we voluntarily organize into hundreds of thousands of independent and interdependent units which all require TEAMWORK.

Thomas Jefferson, a champion for the individual, said: "I'm a great believer in luck, and I find that the harder I work, the more I have of it." TEAMWORK - the more we have of it, the more successful and harmonious will be our Republic. There is no better fellowship than that found in TEAMWORK.

As we give thanks for our independence, let us dedicate ourselves to TEAMWORK and the positive attitudes and actions that are required to build and to maintain a free society.
